I have built one invention and am working on my second.
Jukebox/Arcade
My first invention was built Christmas break 2006. The story goes that I had recently been promoted at my job from cook to Kitchen Manager. Before that in the summer I hasd been working part time on odd jobs around the building and one of the jobs given to me was to get rid of some items in the basement . They had wanted me to take it all off to the dump but I saw it as an opportunity. One of the largest issues I had come across working there the year before was the lack of recreational items in the dinning room. This led to residents not wanting to stay very long or just grab food and then run.
So I began to clean the items that were to go to the dump and tested to see if they still worked and indeed they did. So instead of paying to get rid of them I sold them all on Craig's list. I made a little over five hundred dollars on the items.
Over fall term I came up with numerous ideas to enhance the dinning room but I was unsatisfied. I loved diners as a genre of restaurant. A restaurant for the people, so I wanted a jukebox but I knew that they would like a arcade so I made a machine that did both.
The Invention is nothing more than a computer with a arcade joystick made by X-Arcade a Ipod Dock that plays music from the resident's Ipod and a wireless modem for internet access. The frame is an armour bought at a second hand store in fact the majority of the components were second hand.
I hope to create a more user friendly interface for it in the future as my imployer would like me to take it with me.
